Having worked as an actor, director, writer and producer in TV, Theatre and Film, C H Thorpe can draw upon a wealth of knowledge and experience when coaching his students.
Chris qualified with a degree in Acting and Directing from The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), a leading drama school, and went on to enjoy an eclectic career in acting, alongside a period as Artistic Director of a London-based theatre company: New Write Productions. He continued developing new writing both as a freelance writer and as a director. Chris now focusses purely on Directing and Coaching.
As an active practitioner, Chris is up to speed with what is current and relevant within the industry.
Chris specialises in developing actors at the very beginning of their careers, as well as preparing more seasoned actors for crucial auditions and castings.
As an Acting Coach, Chris has frequently worked at Drama School level where he has delivered syllabus related workshops at all key stages. He also possesses an excellent knowledge and understanding of the latest GCSE and A-Level Drama Exam reforms.
" First, you must learn to know who you are" - Students are encouraged to embrace all the different versions of themselves. They first learn to acknowledge and then to appreciate both positive and negative traits.
By unlocking new abilities and releasing their inhibitions, actors are able to make a personal connection with the character, authentically building upon what they've been given by the writer.
